Location: Town of Belgium

As Product Sustainability Manager and team manger, you are responsible for driving environmental compliance across the product portfolio and embedding ecodesign principles to minimize environmental impact. You lead a team of professionals focused on implementing sustainable practices throughout the product lifecycle—from responsible sourcing and manufacturing to promoting sustainable use and end‑of‑life strategies.

This role requires a deep understanding of environmental regulations, impact reduction strategies, and strong leadership and collaboration skills to work effectively across cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1.
Manage Environmental Management Systems (EMS)

Oversee the company’s EMS for products and suppliers worldwide, including waste management, ecodesign, hazardous chemical compliance, supplier due diligence. Stay up to date with global environmental regulations (e.g., RoHS, REACH, WEEE, ESPR, CBAM, EU TAX) and ensure all products meet compliance standards.

  • Manage environmental Product Sustainability Strategy
  • Develop and implement Barco’s global product environmental sustainability strategy, aligning with corporate goals and Barco’s overall sustainability strategy. Coordinate initiatives to improve the environmental performance of Barco products, focusing on eco‑design, lifecycle assessments, circularity and green claims.
  • Implement the Ecoscore framework in line with stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify and implement innovative materials, technologies, and processes that enhance product sustainability and circularity.

Lead Supplier Product Sustainability Program

In collaboration with Global Procurement to manage Barco’s Supplier Sustainability Program.

Manage Environmental Compliance Office

Lead a team of sustainability professionals: environmental, compliance and data engineers. Foster team dynamics and ambitious roadmaps and team KPI’s.

  • Coordinate Global Sustainability Networks
  • Lead the Green Knowledge Owners team, a global network across all Barco sites, to share best practices and drive sustainability compliance initiatives.
  • Participate and contribute to the Barco Sustainability Lead Meetings representing the BU sustainability leads
  • Act as the primary contact for industry associations (eg Agoria, Avixa, COCIR), NGOs, and research institutions on product environmental sustainability, and supply chain transparency.
  • Represent Barco in European and international institutions to advocate for favourable environmental compliance and environmental sustainability policies.

Train and Engage Stakeholders

Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and build capacity on product environmental sustainability topics across all Barco departments worldwide.

  • Contribute to Barco’s general sustainability strategy

Manage key product activities of Barco’s Executive Sustainability Steering Committee in close collaboration with the Barco sustainability manager. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and BU sustainability leads to ensure sustainability is embedded in all product‑related decisions.

  • Analyses and Communication including support to ESG Reporting Activities

Contribute to Barco’s Annual Report activities (including audits and assurance) related to the product sustainability. Offer support to ESG ratings such as CDP & Ecovadis. Coordinate LCA reporting & dedicated environmental product specific customer request and research projects.

Your Profile Education
  • University degree (ecology, law, chemistry, engineering) or 2‑5 years of experience in a similar job.
  • Must have passion for product sustainability and technology interests.
Competencies

  • Leadership skills and ability to take decisions
  • Ability to present information to different audiences and to different levels of the organization
  • Strong passion for sustainability and environmental – related topics
  • Affinity with the EU regulatory process and institutions
  • Good understanding of legal language and of regulatory texts
  • Good networking skills
Experience
  • Knowledge / Experience of product sustainability and environmental topics: toxic materials, waste management, EpR, energy efficiency, environmental regulations, environmental management systems, Life Cycle Assessment and carbon accounting and analysis.
  • Experience in public/regulatory affairs and/or product compliance/certification
  • Experience of managing processes and procedures and leading a team
  • Experience with management or reporting systems.
