Med Tech Europe, the European trade association representing the medical technology industries, from diagnosis to cure, is currently looking for a Manager Communications. The ideal candidate will be a well rounded EU communications expert and excellent communicator with a passion for telling effective stories
and narratives around healthcare and technology, towards EU institutions and stakeholders.
The Manager Communications will take a leading role in driving the communication objectives and delivering projects that fit the vision and goals of the medical technology sector. The Manager Communications will be responsible for owning Med Tech Europe’s media engagement alongside the Director Communications,
bringing strategic and operational communication excellence in advancing the value promotion and policy objectives of the sector.
You will join a friendly and highly motivated Communications team, which is a strong partner of the different technical and policy experts in the organisation. Each member of the team enjoys the opportunity to work autonomously and run distinct projects. You will take part in high-quality communication activities for one of
the top trade associations in Brussels.
- Own Med Tech Europe’s media engagement (in support of the Director Communications).
- Create and implement communication strategies for Med Tech Europe’s EU policy and advocacy activities.
- Work closely with thematic departments to align communications with their business and advocacy objectives.
- Design and develop effective campaigns, narratives, and assets (statements, visuals, social media posts) for general audiences, based on technical and scientific content.
- Oversee media monitoring and analysis to inform strategy and measure impact (e.g., share of voice, sentiment).
- Support strategies and action plans to engage the organisation in EU legislative proposals and policies.
- Profile the medtech sector’s reputation through targeted initiatives, partnering with member networks on joint projects.
- Support crisis readiness, stakeholder engagement, and responses to EU legislative developments.
Essential
- Five to seven years of working experience in communications, with previous experience in EU policy communications. Experience in health, life sciences or medical technologies is considered a plus.
- Educational background in communications, journalism, political science, European studies, health policy or other relevant degrees.
- Excellent knowledge of the media/ journalistic environment.
- Very good knowledge of the EU policy making environment and policy communications.
- Excellent writing, proof reading and editing skills and experience with a strong ability to understand and translate technical content into written work fit for different set of audiences.
- Proven track record and experience in media relations in particular, working with EU and trade press.
- Self-starter, enthusiastic and excellent communicator with excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. Any additional EU language is considered a plus.
- “Digital native” with a strong knowledge of different communication tools (web, social media, newsletter tools, CMS).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Team player with commitment to excellence
- Availability for occasional travel
- Audiovisual skills such as previous experience with Adobe Suite (or willingness to learn), producing creative video concepts (or willingness to learn), producing podcasts and podcasting concepts (or willingness to learn)
- Previous experience in crisis communications
- Ability to prioritise tasks, team player, work independently and provide results against tight deadlines, resilience to workload, positive attitude
- Ability to find consensus among a wide range of opinions and to work with different functions, teams and seniority levels
