Health & Safety Plant Lead

• Implement and maintain HSE management systems; review the GAP process and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
• Advise plant leadership on regulatory updates and changes, maintaining focus on Brambles Absolute Safety First Rules and compliance with all emergency protocols.
• Oversee day‑to‑day HSE activities of direct reports, ensuring performance targets are met and compliance maintained.
• Coordinate improvement action plans to meet compliance targets.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through active leadership, empowering colleagues to participate in Safety First discussions, Learning Teams, and Safety Differently initiatives.
• Monitor and review training activities to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Lead investigations for all incidents and significant near misses; communicate lessons learned network‑wide.
• Evaluate and improve plant‑level HSE practices, sharing best practices and innovations across the network.

• Create an environment where work‑related health and safety risks are controlled to prevent injuries and occupational ill health.
• Comply with all legal and regulatory health & safety requirements and internal processes, including CHEP OSH&E Systems Gap Audits & Action Plans, Observation Tours, and the iCare system.
• Lead and develop the Safety Differently philosophy across the site through HOP and Learning Teams.
• Ensure all employees understand and commit to CHEP’s Zero Harm policies and practices.
• Drive continuous improvement via systemic change based on data and root‑cause analysis of incidents, near‑misses, and environmental occurrences.
• Lead and monitor Zero Harm discussions and monthly Zero Harm meetings; participate in regular Plant Leadership meetings.
• Develop occupational health & safety competencies through effective training and a skills matrix.
• Lead root‑cause investigations of serious incidents and near misses, sharing good practice across the European/Global network.
• Lead employee wellbeing initiatives, including safety week and occupational health assessments.
• Keep up to date with all internal and external health, safety & wellbeing legislation and advise the Plant Leadership team of changes.

Problem solving involves analyzing, reasoning, and arriving at conclusions to solve routine and complex issues, requiring analytical and innovative solutions.

• At least IOSH qualified.
• Good knowledge of national health, safety & wellbeing laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication skills to engage and influence at all business levels.
• Motivated self‑starter with the ability to drive projects and take ownership.
• Strong analytical skills to understand and interpret data.
• Ability to work well under pressure while demonstrating strong organizational skills.
