YOURTASKS
- To conduct specific research activities within the framework of a fundamental senior research project (FWO) on inequality in volunteer work. The tasks consist of:
1) developing a FAIR data management plan for the project,
2) establishing a stakeholder group to formulate relevant research outcomes for policy and practice and developing a roadmap for this,
3) collaborating with a junior PhD researcher to conduct an exploratory analysis of the policy context and organizational landscape of two central civil society sectors in Flanders, Belgium: the socio-cultural sector and the social services and welfare sector. This will be done through desktop research and approximately 20 in-depth interviews with key stakeholders within these sectors. Based on this, a theoretically informed sample of 8 organizations per sector is intended for more in-depth qualitative data collection.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a thesis-based doctorate in Sociology or a related discipline.
- You have a theoretical affinity with organizational sociology/organizational studies, sociology of the nonprofit sector/civil society, issues of social inequality, citizenship and participation, and organized volunteer work. Publications on these topics are a plus.
- You have experience with qualitative research methods. Demonstrable knowledge of or experience with policy analyses and/or organizational field analyses is a plus.
- You have experience with and/or a strong interest in the ethical aspects of research, developing a data management plan, and open science principles. You possess the skills to carefully develop these, tailored to the project.
- You have experience working with societal stakeholders and can proactively bring them together and inspire them, with the aim of making a practical translation of fundamental research questions and objectives and ensuring sustainable collaboration within the project.
- You are a team player, possess excellent coordination and organizational skills, strong communication skills, and have experience with project management, are a team player.
- Knowledge about and experience with the specific context of Flemish civil society and its rich diversity of organizations is a plus.
- You can respectfully interact with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- You are a proficient user of Dutch.
- We offer you a part-time contract (50%) of definite duration for the period 1 year (possible extension with 1 extra year).
- Your contract will start on 15/03/2026 at the earliest.
