About usThe VIB–KU Leuven Center for Cancer Biology (CCB) is a leading research institute focused on understanding cancer biology and developing innovative therapies. Our Bioinformatics & AI Expertise Unit provides advanced computational support to multiple research groups within CCB (Learn more: Bioinformatics & AI).
Your RoleWe are seeking a skilled computational biologist to organize and deliver training on bioinformatics and AI for the CCB research community; support multi‑omics data integration and analysis across multiple research groups; and collaborate on the development and maintenance of computational pipelines for spatially resolved transcriptomics and multi‑omics data. You will also partner with AI experts to integrate predictive models and advanced analytics into omics workflows.
You will work in an expanding team led by Dr. Masoomeh Rahimpour, collaborating closely with the Integrative Cancer Genomics lab led by Prof. Jonas Demeulemeester and with CCB and VIB.AI Experimental Expertise Units.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver training and workshops on computational methods and AI applications for the CCB community.
- Stay up to date with state‑of‑the‑art methods in computational biology and AI/ML; evaluate, benchmark, and introduce relevant tools and best practices.
- Analyze and integrate multi‑omics datasets
. - Build and maintain reproducible bioinformatics pipelines (e.g., Nextflow/Snakemake) on HPC infrastructure.
- Integrate AI/ML models into omics workflows in collaboration with AI experts.
- PhD or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or R.
- Experience with workflow managers (Nextflow/Snakemake), HPC environments (SLURM, LSF), and containerization (Docker, Singularity/Apptainer) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML models and ability to explain these concepts clearly to non-specialists.
