The selected candidate will be recruited within the Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network TRILOGY , which aims to advance the emerging field of ultrafast chirality by exploiting light-driven electron dynamics to overcome the limits of conventional chiro-optical methods and to develop new approaches to probe chiral molecules.
Within this framework, the doctoral researcher will carry out theoretical work in chemistry and molecular physics, focusing on laser–matter interactions, molecular quantum dynamics and electronic structure in molecular systems.
The position is part of an interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment bringing together academic and industrial partners across Europe.
Specific duties and activities
- Develop and apply theoretical approaches to laser–matter interactions involving ultrashort laser pulses
- Perform numerical simulations in molecular quantum dynamics and electronic structure
- Investigate electron dynamics in chiral and achiral molecules driven and probed by ultrafast chiral and non-chiral light fields
- Contribute to collaborative research within the interdisciplinary TRILOGY network

The position is funded through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and includes a remuneration package in accordance with European Commission guidelines. This comprises a monthly Living Allowance of €4,010 (employer cost) and a Mobility Allowance of €710. A Family Allowance of €660 per month is provided where applicable. The above living allowance corresponds to the employer cost and is subject to social security contribution in Belgium.
The resulting gross monthly salary is approximately €2,664 (+ a monthly amount of 15.34% corresponding to the holiday allowance) . This total net monthly amount is around 2.835€.
The candidate will benefit from a dynamic, international and interdisciplinary research environment within the TRILOGY network.

In addition, the selected candidate will benefit from the work envronment of the Theoretical Physical Chemistry group of the University of Liege. The Theoretical Physical Chemistry group of the University of Liege ( ) is part of the Research Unit MOLSYS. Our researchfocuses on the theory and modeling of the dynamics of molecular systems subject to external perturbations.
