Offer Description

We are seeking a qualified candidate for a Post Doc position within the neutrino group at UGent.

You will work on the next-generation neutrino mass experiment Project 8 , with a particular focus on the development of the detector technology to larger volumes. At UGent, we are focusing on the development of a large-volume cavity detector, a synthetic calibration source, as well as sensitivity studies to sterile neutrinos. While your main project will focus on the synthetic calibration source, contributions to all local lines of research are welcome.

In addition, you will work closely with PhD students and help supervise Master students.

What we offer:

The neutrino group is embedded in the Experimental Particle Physics and Gravity (EPPG) group at Ghent University ( ). The EPPG group provides a stimulating scientific environment. Beyond Project 8, members of the group are actively involved in major international projects, such as CMS, SHiP, LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA, the ET-Pathfinder, Ice Cube and RNO-G. The group works both on analysis and detector R&D.

We offer a 1+2 year full-time employment contract as postdoctoral researcher with competitive salary and benefits. The position is funded by the ERC Starting Grant "NuMass". Employment will start at the earliest feasible date. If you have a preferred start date, please indicate it in your application.

In addition, please arrange for 3 confidential letters of recommendation to be sent directly by the letter writers to the same address.

Full consideration will be given to applications received before August 15, however, the position will remain open until filled. For further information, please contact Juliana Stachurska at  .
