The Assi Lab is part of the de Duve Institute, an international biomedical research center of the UCLouvain in Brussels. We investigate how the extracellular matrix (ECM) drives signaling programs that shape cancer cell behavior and adaptability. Our experimental approach combines CRISPR screens, 3D organotypic cultures, protein biochemistry and mouse modeling.
Your missionWe are looking for a motivated candidate to drive an ambitious research project investigating how the ECM regulates transcriptional (co) factor stabilization and related downstream responses in cancer cells.
- Proactively contribute to new scientific ideas and experimental troubleshooting
- Coordinate with the PI to guide project progression and set priorities
- Design, perform and analyze experiments independently and in collaboration with the team
- Have the possibility to supervise master’s students
- A PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular/Cellular Biology, or equivalent
- International candidate who recently obtained their PhD outside Belgium
- You did NOT work or reside in Belgium in the last two years
- Strong interest in protein stability/degradation, the ubiquitin-proteasome system and cancer biology
- Hands-on experience in protein biochemistry, cell culture and molecular cloning is essential
- Adaptable, and curious to explore new scientific and technical areas as project priorities evolve
- A good command of English (spoken and written) is essential
- Ability to work independently and in a team is essential
- A two-year postdoc fellowship, with possibility of renewal.
- Also, the candidate will be supported to apply for their own fellowship.
