The Clinical Diabetes Sales Specialist is directly responsible for promoting and selling Tandem Diabetes products and services within the assigned territory. The role requires planning and ensuring achievement of sales goals through clinical acceptance of Tandem products’ insulin pump therapy. Responsibilities include identifying potential customers, establishing and developing business relationships to facilitate Tandem Diabetes products and clinical services, and acting as a trusted clinical partner to healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers.
Key Responsibilities- Cover assigned territory to ensure the territory meets or exceeds company sales goals as established by Sales Management.
- Develop and execute strategies to address clinical concerns in the sales territory to ensure the sale of Tandem Diabetes products/services and the retention of existing relationships.
- Be a clinical and educational leader in the territory, focusing on Type1 diabetes management and insulin pump therapy.
- Identify new business opportunities, build strong HCP relationships, and establish Tandem as a go‑to resource in the diabetes community.
- Use available tools to identify sales leads and gather information required to determine if prospective criteria have been satisfied.
- Create value for providers by differentiating Tandem’s technology and services, especially in comparison to legacy pump systems.
- Promote Tandem’s unique market position, approach, and value to prospects, including integration/coordination with providers and impact on claims or outcomes.
- Schedule, deliver, and coordinate product training for patients, customers, and health care professionals, ensuring thorough documentation and timely communication per company policy.
- Maintain excellent professional relationships with health care professionals to support the sale of Tandem Diabetes products/services.
- Be responsible for initial and ongoing recertification of contracted and non‑contracted Tandem Pump Trainers in the territory.
- Conduct educational classes for patients to support diabetes education related to insulin pump therapy.
- Collaborate with Clinical Manager for guidance on technical and training issues, and with internal teams to address post‑sale product issues and additional patient education training needs.
- Provide product information directly to consumers/end users via health fairs, conventions, or promotions.
- Attend corporate sales training, sales meetings, and assigned conventions, trade shows, and symposia.
- Maintain accurate records in the customer relationship management software for all business dealings within the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with Sales, Medical Affairs, and Customer Support teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.
- Uphold company compliance with all regulatory, privacy, and legal requirements.
- Excellent communicator, able to earn trust with both HCPs and patients.
- Proficient in Type1 and Type2 diabetes self-management, including insulin pumps, AID systems, CGMs, infusion sets, carbohydrate counting, and emergency protocols.
- Proven ability to work independently and drive results in a fast‑paced, evolving market.
- Comfortable presenting to and influencing clinical stakeholders and Key Opinion Leaders.
- Familiarity with the sales cycle, CRM tools, and digital collaboration platforms (Microsoft Office, Teams, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills with a passion for supporting patients and providers.
- Ability to travel up to 80% within the territory; must maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance as per company policy.
- Must be fluent in Dutch and English.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical device sales, diabetes care, endocrinology, or a related clinical field.
