Export Sales Manager (Far East & Oceania)
The Export Sales Manager for the Far East & Oceania region carries end-to-end commercial ownership of one of CCBP’s most important international growth regions. The role runs the full commercial cycle – from market intelligence and prospecting, through quotation and negotiation, to order confirmation and a clean hand-over to back-office for further follow-up – but does so at a senior, autonomous level and with a clear mandate to grow volume.
This is a deliberately heavier export profile than a domestic sales role. This region is treated as a strategic growth market: it requires sustained focus, a strong local network and a high frequency of in-market visits. The holder is the face of CCBP across the region and is directly accountable for protecting the brand, developing the distributor base and delivering the regional budget.
Key responsibilities
- Regional ownership – take full P&L-minded responsibility for the Far East & Oceania region with a clear growth mandate.
- Key account management – protect and expand the existing customer portfolio across Australia, South Korea, Japan, Greater China (incl. Hong Kong & Taiwan), Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (among others).
- Business development – prospect, qualify and open new distributors, importers and retail / food service accounts; build and maintain a strong local network in each market.
- In-market presence – plan and lead a structured, high-frequency travel and visit programme; the region demands significantly more focus and on-site visits than mature markets.
- Negotiation & budgets – negotiate annual volume and pricing agreements, set and follow up regional sales targets, and own the regional budget and forecast.
- Training & activation – deliver product trainings, tastings, demonstrations and masterclasses to distributors and their commercial teams.
- Trade fairs & events – prepare, attend and follow up international trade fairs and customer events in the region.
- Export & compliance – manage export documentation and customs formalities, and ensure compliance with import, labelling and food-safety requirements per market together with the Belgian back-office team.
- Cross-functional collaboration – work closely with back-office, production, purchasing and quality to ensure smooth and timely order fulfilment.
- Market intelligence – analyse markets and competitors, monitor pricing and trends, and flag new commercial opportunities.
- Reporting – report to management on pipeline, volumes, margins and market developments on a monthly (or more regular) basis.
Profile – a senior export profile
Given the scope, geography and growth mandate, this role calls for an experienced, self-reliant export profile rather than a junior sales hire:
- Export experience – several years of proven B2B export / international sales experience, ideally in food, FMCG or chocolate / confectionery, with a track record of growing distributor-driven markets.
- Asia-Pacific affinity – demonstrable ability to operate across Far East & Oceania business cultures, with strong intercultural and negotiation skills.
- Languages – English at professional level is required;
Dutch and/or French are an asset; an additional Asian language (e.g. Mandarin, Korean or Thai) is a strong asset. - Travel readiness – high willingness and ability to travel; frequent long-haul and multi-week trips are an essential, structural part of the role.
- Local network – an existing or quickly buildable network of distributors, importers and partners in the region.
- Product & demo knowledge – solid product knowledge and the ability to run tastings, demonstrations and masterclasses for customers and their teams.
- Autonomy & ownership – results-driven and autonomous, with strong ownership of targets, budgets and reporting.
- Tools – experience with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Mobility – driving licence B and willingness to travel.
- Flexibility – willingness to take on tasks beyond the strict scope of the job description.
Succession note: this profile is intentionally defined with succession in mind. The priority criteria for the successor are language skills, travel readiness and an established local network, combined with strong product knowledge and the ability to deliver demos and masterclasses.
