Automotive Embedded Software Development Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Automotive Embedded Software Development Engineer to join a high‑tech transmission and driveline development program in Belgium. The role focuses on low‑level, real‑time embedded software for safety‑critical automotive systems and involves close collaboration with hardware, electronics, and systems engineering teams.
Job DescriptionYou will design and develop low-level embedded software for next‑generation automotive transmission applications, ensuring robust hardware–software integration, high reliability, and ASIL‑compliant functionality.
Key Responsibilities- Develop Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) drivers
- Develop and integrate SBC and CAN transceiver MCAL modules or complex device drivers
- Document software design and implementation in a clear and structured manner
- Collaborate closely with hardware and system engineers
- Debug, test, and validate embedded components
- Develop ASIL‑D–compliant safety‑related software
- Several years of embedded C programming experience for real‑time systems
- Strong experience with HAL components and SPI driver development
- Familiarity with RTOS environments
- Solid knowledge of communication protocols
- Experience with Renesas RH850 microcontrollers
- Experience with AUTOSAR applications (BSW / MCAL / CDD understanding)
- Experience with Vector / ETAS platforms for AUTOSAR‑compliant development
- Hands‑on experience with tools such as CANape, CANoe, or CANalyzer
- Strong analytical mindset and structured way of working
- Proactive, hands‑on, and highly motivated attitude
- Good communication and documentation skills
- MSc in Electronics or Computer Science
- Familiarity with ISO 26262, and ISO 21434 standards
