Job Description

About Robovision Healthcare

Robovision Healthcare develops and manufactures software as medical devices (SaMD) for radiology applications that enables disease detection, segmentation, and treatment planning with the objective to support radiologists by assisting in the identification of diseases and helping medical teams make the most appropriate treatment decisions. Our first SaMD (CE-marking in process) will allows the detection and monitoring of intracranial metastases in patients with primary non-intracranial cancer.

Headquartered in Ghent, Belgium, we operate with a "partnership-first" mindset, moving beyond traditional hierarchies to deliver institutional autonomy and the lowest total cost of ownership over decades. At Robovision, we don't just build tools — we architect the foundation for industrial reliability. We are currently looking for a (freelance or permanent) Senior Software Development Engineer to join our Healthcare R&D team.

Your role

You will design and develop software applications that meet the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance. Working within a cross-functional agile team, you take shared ownership of the software your team commits to — from requirements to release — and actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement across both technical and non-technical dimensions.

This is a role for engineers who take pride in what they ship, engage deeply with the full software development lifecycle, and are motivated by building software that genuinely matters — in an environment where compliance and quality are not afterthoughts, but core to the mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, implement, and test software requirements, architectural decisions, and bug fixes across the full development lifecycle.
  • Take shared responsibility for delivering high-quality, releasable product increments in line with the definition of done and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members and stakeholders across teams to achieve aligned business and company goals.
  • Provide realistic effort estimates for features and improvements, both at sprint level and over longer time horizons.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the team's way of working — technically and beyond — through active participation in retrospectives.
  • Contribute to software-related records as part of the Medical Device File and support compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
  • Help improve and monitor all aspects of information security related to the software under development and the IT infrastructure in use.
Job Requirements

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development.

Experience in the medical device industry + development of a software as a medical device (SaMD) is a must.

Solid software development fundamentals: design patterns, OOD, CI/CD, multithreading, and asynchronous programming.

Proven experience designing and developing fully automated CI/CD pipelines.

Experience contributing to large-scale distributed systems.

Hands‑on experience with advanced Python libraries such as Async

IO and FastAPI.

Familiarity with development tools including Visual Studio Code and PyCharm.

Good understanding of Agile, Kanban, and Waterfall methodologies.

Sound judgment, high integrity, and strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills; fluent in English. Dutch and/or French are a plus.

You are based in Belgium

You’re open for a long term engagement, as a freelance or permanent employee

Bonus Points

Familiarity with QMS systems and regulatory frameworks such as 21 CFR Part 820, EN ISO 13485, EN 62304 and EN 82304.

We Offer

Joining Robovision means securing a front‑row seat in Belgium's most ambitious industrial AI scale‑up, where the environment is as dynamic as the technology we develop. We provide a sophisticated entrepreneurial ecosystem designed for high‑impact engineers, offering unmatched opportunities for accelerated professional growth across multiple strategic and technical domains.

Our culture is built on transparency and a partnership‑first mindset, moving beyond traditional hierarchies to focus on high‑level communication and collective success. We are a team of owners who celebrate shared success and foster an environment of high ambition, technical excellence, and respect. By joining this high‑performance ecosystem, you contribute to software that delivers real‑world outcomes — and lasting impact.
