Position: Embedded Software Engineer (C++)
Location: Town of Belgium

Join Verhaert On-Site Consulting and contribute to the development of next-generation industrial safety technology.

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support the adaptation and optimization of software for an innovative industrial machinery platform. You will play a key role in modifying and validating embedded software as part of the development of a new machine variant, ensuring reliability, safety and compliance throughout the process.

This assignment is ideally suited for a freelance consultant with strong embedded development experience and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, modify and maintain embedded software written in C++.
  • Adapt existing software architecture to support new machine functionality.
  • Analyze, diagnose and resolve software issues and error codes.
  • Support software integration, testing and validation activities.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, electronics and project teams.
  • Contribute to system reliability, safety and performance improvements.
  • Support compliance activities related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
  • Participate in debugging and root cause analysis of technical issues.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in Embedded Software Development using C++.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems and hardware-software interaction.
  • Experience troubleshooting embedded applications and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Knowledge of EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) principles, testing and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with industrial equipment, machinery, automation systems or safety-critical products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical challenges.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with industrial machinery or machine safety systems.
  • Familiarity with PCB-based embedded platforms.
  • Experience supporting certification, testing or compliance activities.
  • Knowledge of real-time or safety-related embedded software development.
