We are looking for a Transportation Service Specialist (TSS) to support logistics processes, activities, and customers for all modes of transportation. This role is part of the Logistics department and is accountable for performing daily transportation tasks and carrier related communications for multiple Owens Corning facilities. The TSS will assign daily freight to the Owens Corning carrier base to meet delivery dates of customer orders in a cost effective manner.
The TSS will collaborate with Customers, Carriers, Manufacturing Facilities, Warehouses, Customer Service Specialists, Logistics Analyst, Material Planners and other OC organizations as necessary to identify and troubleshoot issues to ultimately deliver our product on‑time and damage free. This role will require the TSS to embrace and actively display the Owens Corning values, standards and purpose.
- Assisting in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity and identifying opportunities to reduce lead times.
- Identifying opportunities for improvements including cost, quality, and service of customer needs and issues.
- Implementing and maintaining monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.
- Generating and analyzing reports of transportation costs and carrier performance. Planning and tracking lead times including compliance with related regulations.
- Ability to coordinate transportation and ensure timely, efficient delivery of goods.
- Experienced in cost calculation, billing, and applying freight payment procedures.
- Competence in managing carrier performance, issuing bids, and analyzing logistics responses.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, including proactive issue resolution and delivery verification.
- Proficiency in supply chain processes and product knowledge to identify and act on customer opportunities.
- Capability to optimize logistics, analyze for cost savings, and eliminate non‑value‑added activities using continuous improvement tools.
- Experience with large integrated software systems (ERP, MRP, SAP) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrates strong professionalism, coaching abilities, and effective communication skills.
- Organizational, problem‑solving, and time management skills.
- Safety, quality and sustainability are focus points.
- Analytical mindset with expertise in data analytics and metric reporting.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively, with a flexible and positive attitude in challenging environments.
- Fluent in Dutch, English and German, optional Czech (and any other language is an asset).
- Willing to travel up to 5%.
