Essential
Job Duties
* Assists classroom teachers with individual students to eliminate or replace disruptive, harmful or negative behaviors with positive actions.
* Assist highly disruptive students
* Assist with playground, breakfast, lunchroom duties
* Assists in gathering pertinent information for the development of appropriate behavioral intervention plans.
* Assists in progress monitoring and the collection of student behavioral data regarding implementation plans to ensure student success.
* Assists building staff to implement positive reinforcement-based classroom management systems.
* Assists transportation staff regarding the use of behavioral management programs on buses.
* Provides direct support to students to enhance teacher and specialist instruction.
* Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention plans that address the behavioral needs of students, such as IEP’s,504’s and Behavior Intervention Plans.
* Attends and participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, IEP meetings, and other meetings as required.
* Complies with Board policies, rules, regulations, and directives.
* Reports cases of suspected child abuse according to state law.
* Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars, and workshops.
* Assists with the input of behavior data in corresponding systems
* Intervention procedures and prevention work with at risk students
* Performs other related duties as assigned

* Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
* Knowledge to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
* Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others.
* Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
* Ability to be flexible to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances.
* Ability to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups and utilize specific, job-related equipment.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, the public, and staff members.
* Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
* Ability to manage time and responsibilities, adapt to changing work priorities, communicate with diverse groups, maintaining confidentiality, meet deadlines and schedules.
* Ability to set priorities, work as part of a team and work with and manage frequent interruptions.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of student matters.
* Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.
* Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board policies.
* Ability to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events, gather, collate, and/or classify data and use job-related equipment.
* Skill in adhering to safety practices.
* Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate records and using pertinent software applications (as required).
Equipment Used
* Computer, calculator, copier, telephone/voice mail, fax, wheelchairs and other special needs equipment.
Required Qualifications
* High School Diploma or equivalent;
Or
* Minimum of two years of secondary education; or
* Certification in the district approved crisis intervention techniques or ability to become certified within three months of employment. (District will provide training if needed).
