Job Duties
- Assists in development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Attends and participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, IEP meetings, and other meetings as required.
- Provides an appropriate educational program for each student.
- Complies with Board policies, rules, regulations, and directives.
- Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
- Plans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
- Monitors students' progress in and outside special education room.
- Reports cases of suspected child abuse according to state law.
- Maintains regular contact with parents of students.
- Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars, and workshops.
- Evaluates student progress based on work output and observation, determines goals, objectives, and directions.
- Prepares report cards, educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
- Consults with other professionals and teaching staff regarding progress of students and related educational matters.
- Supervises students, classroom aides, and volunteers.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Knowledge to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Ability to be flexible to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances.
- Ability to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups and utilize specific, job-related equipment.
- Ability to problem solve to analyze issue.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, the public, and staff members.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

- Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate records and using pertinent software applications (as required).
- Computer, calculator, copier, telephone/voice mail, fax, wheelchairs and other special needs equipment.
Special Requirements
- Montana Driver's license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date.
- Performs routine work.
- Regularly works inside with minimal temperature variations.
- Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Frequently required to sit, occasionally walk and stand and reach with hands or arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
- Significant fine finger dexterity
- Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments.
- May be required to lift or carry up to 10 - 30 pounds on a routine basis with or without an accommodation.
