Position Title: Paraprofessional Early Learning Program

Starting Date: Aug 20, 2026

Location: Saddle Peak Elementary School

Pay Type: Hourly Non-Exempt

Reports to: Building Principal

Pay Grade: Classified

Retirement: TRS

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent; and
  • Two years post‑secondary education (minimum of 60 semester credits/90 quarter college credits); or
  • Pass an academic assessment that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to assist in the instruction of reading and math.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Prior experience working with students preferred.
Purpose

Under direction of the school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students in designated subject areas, including math and reading. Provides an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students to ensure success. Supervises students in various settings, monitors outcomes, communicates with students, parents, staff, and community, and develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans to meet all students’ needs.

Maintains records and follows required procedures and practices, and monitors appropriate use of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Job Duties
  • Performs instructional activities as planned, assigned, and organized by professional staff for individual and/or small groups of students.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of individuals to ensure student success.
  • Regularly meets and instructs assigned students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that encourages student involvement and achievement of learning objectives.
  • Provides an instructional program to meet all students’ needs.
  • Guides the learning process toward curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Plans and utilizes instructional methods, resources, and evaluation techniques that motivate and enable all students.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administration.
  • Available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside instructional hours when required.
  • Establishes relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Participates in school management and shares responsibility for the program.
  • Attends parent‑teacher meetings and updates on student progress.
  • Consults with teachers and maintains updated lesson plans.
  • Attends academic committee meetings as requested by the Building Principal.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Special Requirements
  • Montana driver’s license or ability to obtain one within three months of hire date.
