Permanent Senior Estimator – Mechanical/Plumbing
Salary: $90,000 – $150,000 per year
Job DetailsWe are a leading contractor in Mountaintop seeking a seasoned professional with expertise in mechanical and plumbing estimating. The role requires strategic thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical and plumbing construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and services.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services.
- Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
- Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
- Collaborate with contractors, architects, and engineers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Assist in the preparation of bidding documents, including developing bid strategies and packages.
- Evaluate and manage the pre‑construction and construction stages of a project.
- Coordinate with the project management team to monitor job progress and adjust estimates as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical/plumbing estimating in the construction industry.
- Proficient knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing.
- Experience with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems is a must.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, piping, and other related mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and the ability to interpret them accurately.
- Proven ability to prepare and present estimates and bids effectively.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and computer programs.
