Summary: The Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive high-quality patient-centered care in medical-surgical and telemetry units. This role involves assessing patient health conditions, monitoring cardiac telemetry data, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to manage diverse patient needs. The position requires strong clinical skills in med-surg and telemetry nursing, critical thinking, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics.

Required Qualifications:

• One year of recent Med Surg/Tele RN experience
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• NIHSS certification
• ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
• Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position

Essential Work Functions:

• Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ conditions
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and assist physicians during treatments
• Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical conditions or surgical procedures
• Document comprehensive patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and care outcomes, in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans
• Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs
• Ensure strict infection control practices, including hand hygiene and PPE use
• Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences
• Facilitate discharge planning and coordinate with patients, families, and external resources
• Perform other duties within the scope of practice
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
• Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions
• Physical abilities: able to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, bend
• Interpersonal skills: work effectively with varied personnel, present a positive attitude and professionalism
• Technical/motor skills: grasp, fine manipulation, push/pull, move about when assisting with procedures
• Mental requirements: handle frequent contact with the public, meet deadlines under pressure, work under supervision or independently as needed, manage irregular activity schedules and continuous concentration on detail
• Sensory: possess visual acuity and effective communication ability
