JOB SUMMARY

The Cancer Registry Manager demonstrates expertise in Cancer Registry functions. The Manager will have oversight and supervision of all Harris Health System Cancer Registry Program work activities and registry operation, including staffing and management. The Manager produces reports, performs audits, and provides training. The Manager codes, stages, and abstracts all cases of cancer diagnosed and/or treated at Harris Health. Assures compliance with Texas Cancer Registry guidelines, American College of Surgeons (ACOS) and Commission on Cancer (CoC).

Performs data entry utilizing Elekta (Mosaiq) software. Maintains the quality and integrity of the database and ensures compliance with all internal and external policy, regulations, and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required in Health Care Information Management (preferred) or applicable field.
  • Certified Tumor Registrar required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years in an ACoS accredited Cancer Registry department.
  • Three (3) years of management experience in a Cancer Registry department.
  • Equipment Operated: PC, calculator, Microsoft Office.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Above average verbal (heavy public contract);
    Exceptional verbal (e.g., public speaking).
  • Writing/Composing:
    Correspondence/Reports.
  • Other

    Skills:

    Analytical, CRT, medical terms, PC, statistical, typing 45 wpm, word processing.
  • Advanced

    Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree (major) in Health Care Information Management (preferred) or applicable field.
  • Familiar with electronic medical record and cancer registry software systems. Excellent time management and ability to respond quickly to completing priorities. Knowledge of American College of Surgeons standards, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Elekta cancer registry software program, SEER, FORDS manual, and AJCC staging manual.
