Payroll & Onboarding Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll & Onboarding Specialist to join our shared services team in Bellaire, TX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes and facilitating smooth onboarding experiences for new employees within a dynamic shared services environment.

• Process and manage payroll accurately and timely for multiple business units within a shared services framework.
• Coordinate and execute new hire onboarding activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Maintain employee records related to payroll and onboarding in HRIS and payroll systems.
• Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to resolve payroll discrepancies and onboarding issues.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
• Assist in the continuous improvement of payroll and onboarding processes to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and onboarding procedures.

• Proven experience as a Payroll & Onboarding Specialist, preferably within a shared services environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and onboarding best practices.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

The incumbent will be working primarily in a professional open office environment, with some exposure to a restaurant and plant nursery setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and filing cabinets.

While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is regularly required to talk, hear, read, and write. The incumbent is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and arms to reach, type, file and write. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distant vision, and ability to adjust focus. The incumbent is occasionally required to sit, stand, climb, balance, stoop, and crouch.

The incumbent must frequently lift and move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
