Retail Strategy Specialist

Reporting to the Director of Consumer Experience and Head of HumanX, the Retail Strategy Specialist is responsible for supporting IARetail's strategic advisory capability through HumanX research, consumer insights, and thought leadership.

As capability and experience grow, the Retail Strategy Specialist will independently lead key elements of the HumanX programme, becoming a trusted partner in delivering thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development and delivery of HumanX research across multiple retail sectors, from initial research through to publication, promotion, and industry engagement.
• Progressively assume ownership of HumanX research initiatives, methodologies, and strategic outputs.
• Act as a steward of the HumanX methodology, ensuring research frameworks, knowledge assets, and best practices are maintained, refined, and continually evolved.
• Monitor emerging retail, consumer, cultural, and design trends to identify future opportunities for clients and the practice.
• Produce thought leadership, research reports, newsletters, trend updates, and strategic foresight content.
• Support conference submissions, speaking engagements, award applications, publications, and industry presentations.
• Build and maintain a searchable library of HumanX research, project insights, benchmarks, and best practice.
• Support with leading internal knowledge-sharing sessions to embed HumanX thinking across the Retail Practice.
• Curate and showcase IARetail's strategy and HumanX work, ensuring the practice's expertise is visible, celebrated, and reusable.
• Support the delivery of HumanX research and retail strategy across client projects, with increasing responsibility for independently leading research and strategic work streams.
• Translate consumer, behavioural, and market insights into actionable design opportunities.
• Develop customer journeys, personas, research findings, experience frameworks, and strategic recommendations.
• Produce visually compelling, client-ready presentations and reports that connect insight to design.
• Support RFQs, RFPs, proposals, and client presentations with research, storytelling, and strategic thinking.
• Partner with project teams to strengthen discovery, visioning, and consumer experience strategies.

Success Measures:

• Becoming a trusted extension of the Director of Consumer Experience in the delivery and evolution of Human

• Delivering research and strategic insights that improve project outcomes and influence client decision-making.
• Producing thought leadership that strengthens IARetail's market profile and strategic advisory offering.
• Contributing to business development through compelling research, strategic storytelling, and differentiated client propositions.
• Helping establish HumanX as a recognised, scalable, and commercially valuable capability.
