Join our dedicated team in the Solid Waste division of the City of Bellaire Public Works Department as an Equipment Operator! EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I - SOLID WASTE functions include but are not limited to the following:
Operational Duties:
Drive sanitation vehicle, collecting waste and recyclables.
Efficiently pick up solid waste along assigned routes.
Transport refuse to the landfill, following designated routes.
Solid Waste Management:
Operate trucks for the collection and transportation of debris to the city landfill.
Perform tasks related to trash collection, ensuring the proper disposal of waste.
Assist in recycling and disposal-related tasks.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Perform daily inspections and safety checks on assigned vehicles.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including vehicle checklists, trip logs, and repair reports.
Compliance and Policies:
Follow City and departmental rules, regulations, and procedures.
Report to work free from the influence of drugs, controlled substances, or alcohol.
Emergency Response:
Essential personnel may be on 24-hour call-out for emergencies.
Work overtime, including during emergencies, to provide essential services.
Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
1 year of previous relevant work experience is required.
Supervisory:
No previous supervisory experience is required.
Certifications/Licenses:
Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License
