The Warehouse / Material Handler & Forklift Operator supports daily warehouse and facility operations by safely moving, loading, unloading, staging, and organizing materials, supplies, pallets, equipment, and reusable packaging materials. This position is responsible for operating a forklift and also provides general facility support, including dunnage handling, trash removal, housekeeping, and basic janitorial duties.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a hands-on warehouse environment. This position requires someone who can perform a variety of physical tasks while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties & Responsibilities Warehouse & Material Handling
- Receive, move, stage, organize, and store materials, supplies, equipment, and other warehouse items.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and designated storage areas.
- Safely move pallets, containers, packaging materials, equipment, and other items throughout the facility.
- Maintain organized warehouse and storage areas.
- Assist with inventory organization and basic material tracking.
- Prepare materials and supplies for internal distribution or shipment.
- Ensure materials are properly stored and handled to prevent damage.
- Follow all established warehouse procedures and safety requirements.
- Safely operate forklifts to move and position materials, pallets, dunnage, supplies, and equipment.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and warehouse storage areas.
- Perform required pre-use forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain safe operating practices around pedestrians, vehicles, equipment, and loading areas.
- Follow all company, facility, OSHA, and equipment safety requirements.
- Maintain a current forklift certification and operate equipment only within the scope of training and authorization.
- Handle, move, organize, stage, and store reusable dunnage and packaging materials.
- Load and unload dunnage as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized dunnage storage areas.
- Inspect dunnage and packaging materials for damage and report or remove unusable materials.
- Properly stack and store dunnage and other materials to maintain a safe work environment.
- Assist with the movement and organization of materials between warehouse and operational areas.
- Collect and transport trash, cardboard, recyclables, and other waste to designated disposal areas.
- Empty trash receptacles and maintain clean and orderly waste collection areas.
- Break down and properly dispose of cardboard and recyclable materials.
- Sweep, mop, dust, wipe down surfaces, and perform other basic cleaning duties as assigned.
- Maintain cleanliness of warehouse, loading areas, common areas, and other designated facility spaces.
- Respond to spills and general housekeeping needs promptly and safely.
- Assist with general facility support duties as needed.
- Previous warehouse, material handling, forklift, logistics, facilities, or janitorial experience preferred.
- Current forklift certification required.
- Demonstrated experience safely operating a forklift in a warehouse or industrial environment.
- Ability to safely operate other material-handling equipment, as applicable.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
