Responsibilities
  • Support the company's best manufacturing initiatives as a team and by partnering with other sites
  • Lead, monitor and analyze production numbers and KPIs
  • Directly identify continuous improvement projects, overseeing group CI and 2‑6 individual CI projects at a time, including managing budgets and project timelines
  • Complete the assigned area's capability and capacity analysis on a biannual basis
  • Lead and participate in daily mechanical troubleshooting of equipment and processes
  • Assist the new model engineering group by ensuring that the department is ready for tooling, line modification and start up
  • Develop and improve line layouts and make line modifications
  • Facilitate sharing practices with sister sites
  • Train associates on proper quality, production and engineering procedures
  • Conceptualize and design fixtures and gauges in 2D and 3D software
  • Lead the partnership between operations and quality to help determine root cause analysis of quality issues and establish countermeasures
  • Spend up to 50% of your time on the manufacturing floor, focused on engineering efforts
  • Other engineering tasks as assigned

This is a hands‑on position that requires qualified candidates to be on the manufacturing floor up to 50% of their day. Candidates should be able to manage their own projects while offering guidance to junior engineers, be flexible with their work requirements, and have good written and verbal communication. Individuals should have excellent floor communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with executives, peers and frontline associates.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; preferred majors include mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technologies, industrial technologies or manufacturing technologies
  • At least five years of similar manufacturing engineering experience
  • A general understanding of process controls, ideally PFMEA
  • Experience focused on continuous improvement initiatives, including scrap reduction, efficiency improvement, elimination of downtime, etc.
  • Project management skills, including overseeing timelines and budgets
  • Basic 2D and 3D modeling
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Preferred Skills (Not required)
  • Automotive manufacturing work experience
  • Capital equipment projects
  • Exposure to Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies
  • New model launch
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Tooling
  • Power BI
  • Supervision of others
