Position: Courier (Full-Time)

Summary

CHWP’s Courier supports the mission, vision, and values of the health center by providing pharmaceutical delivery services to the community. The Courier will deliver prescription medication to CHWP sites or public residences throughout Logan and Champaign Counties. The Courier will maintain a safe driving record and comply with all federal, state, and local driving laws. The driver will ensure their vehicle is properly maintained, safe, and clean for reliable professional service.

Primary

Accountabilities
  • Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and appropriate recordkeeping and administrative functions.
  • Understand and ensure all practices and procedures related to the delivery of prescription medications are consistent with protocols.
  • Develop and maintain favorable relationships with all who utilize the delivery service, including pharmacists, technicians, administrative and clinical staff.
  • Represent the organization in a highly professional manner and uphold corporate policies and procedures.
Primary Tasks and Duties
  • Review and plan routes in advance of deliveries.
  • Operate safely in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Monitor weather patterns (NOAA) to ensure personal safety and safety of recipients.
  • Ensure safety during delivery, including safe entry, parking, exit, and receipt of prescriptions.
  • Maintain integrity of prescription transportation containers.
  • Document prescription delivery workflows accurately.
  • Maintain accurate written and electronic records of mileage, pre‑ and post‑trip forms, and other required logs.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Perform any additional duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Duties and Key Competencies
  • Demonstrate safe driving practices and be focused, confident, and observant.
  • Maintain visual acuity of 20/50 or better.
  • Be reliable and punctual.
  • Possess sound knowledge of road and traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Follow verbal directions and use navigational tools (maps, GPS, vehicle manuals).
  • Use provided tools such as mobile phone and iPad.
  • Be organized and able to follow a schedule and adapt to changes.
  • Work evenings and Saturdays if needed.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Implement and evaluate operational and administrative processes.
  • Participate in quality, compliance, improvement, and risk management.
  • Engage in certification projects (Joint Commission, HRSA) and corporate compliance requirements.
  • Report weather changes and emergencies to supervisor and follow directives.
  • Seek indoor shelter during severe weather emergencies.
  • Respond to an unexpected community disaster as directed.

Work Environment

The work environment is a normal office delivery setting. May require occasional Saturday and/or evening hours. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

Work Hours

Part‑time, non‑exempt hourly position. Generally 8–20 hours per week, subject to change. Hours usually 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays and after‑business hours work. Training will be assigned as required.

Wages

Starting wages are negotiable based on pay policies, education, experience, and local compensation recommendations.

Introductory Period

90‑day probationary period.

Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous professional driving experience preferred; training may be provided.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of accreditation processes and regulatory requirements.

Physical/Environmental Requirements
  • Occasional lifting of 40–50lbs and pushing of 5–20lbs.
  • Approx. 80% sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Manual dexterity and reaching about 20% of time.
  • Normal accessibility and mobility throughout the region.
  • Ability to work overtime and extended hours.
