Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Schedule:

7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery will deliver and coordinate patient care by performing comprehensive head-to-toe assessments, pain management, and developing tailored care plans. This role requires close collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring that care aligns with patients' needs throughout their experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform head-to-toe assessments and reassessments according to established policies.
  • Assess and manage pain using appropriate evaluation methods and educate patients and families on pain control techniques.
  • Develop, revise, and evaluate plans of care based on patient responses to treatment.
  • Provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
  • Administer medications accurately following the five rights to minimize errors.
  • Create and assess teaching plans based on identified learning needs, involving families as appropriate.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and assist in operating equipment safely and correctly.
  • Serve as a liaison among patients, families, and healthcare providers while ensuring respectful communication.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and manage patient care effectively.
  • Document all aspects of patient care in compliance with current standards and policies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

  • 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience is required.
  • Postpartum and nursery experience is required.
  • Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NRP through AHA are required.
  • Active Ohio or Compact RN license at the time of submission is required.
  • BSN degree is preferred.
