ANNOUNCEMENT

Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for part-time instructors for the Math department. Part-time instructors are hired on an as-needed basis. Your application will be placed in a pool for review as part-time teaching assignments become available.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Part-time/adjunct faculty in Math and Computer Science are responsible for teaching the objectives for each Math course assigned, the assessment of student learning, and reporting of student progress as required by the college.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications depend on the course taught. Please see below for minimum qualifications for the various courses taught in the Mathematics and Computer Sciences department.

A Master's degree or higher with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics is required for the following courses (These graduate hours in Mathematics must be above senior level and approved by the Math Department Chair.):

MATH 093, Review of Arithmetic

MATH 094, Basic Algebra

MATH 095, Mathematical Literacy

MATH 096, Elementary Geometry for College Students

MATH 097, Intermediate Algebra

MATH 105, Math for Elementary Teachers I

MATH 106, Math for Elementary Teachers II

MATH 111, Liberal Arts Mathematics

MATH 112, College Algebra

MATH 113, Finite Math for Business and Social Sciences

MATH 114, Trigonometry

MATH 203, Analytic Geometry & Calculus I

MATH 204, Analytic Geometry & Calculus II

MATH 205, Analytic Geometry & Calculus III

MATH 213, Calculus for Business and Social Sciences

MATH 290, Differential Equations

MATH 292, Linear Algebra

A Master's degree or higher with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics, Statistics, or Operations Research is required for the following courses (These graduate hours must be above senior level and approved by the Math Department Chair.):

MATH 107, General Education Statistics

MATH 191, Introduction to Statistics

A Master's degree or higher with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics or Computer Science is required for the following courses (These graduate hours must be above senior level and approved by the Math Department Chair.).

Demonstrated proficiency in the appropriate programming language is required.

MATH 170, Computer Science I - C++

MATH 171, Computer Science I - Java

MATH 210, Computer Programming for Engineers

MATH 270, Computer Science II - C++

MATH 271, Computer Science II - Java

STARTING PAY AND HOURS

Salary varies based on educational level and number of units taught.

WORK LOCATION

Math department courses are offered at the SWIC Belleville, Sam Wolf Granite City and Red Bud Campuses.
