Part-Time Nursing Clinical Instructor

ANNOUNCEMENT

Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for part-time instructors for the Clinical Instructor role in the Practical Nursing program . Part-time instructors are hired on an as-needed basis. Your application will be placed in a pool for review as part-time teaching assignments become available.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Part-time/adjunct faculty are responsible for teaching the objectives of the course assigned, assessing student learning, and reporting student progress as required by the college and the Higher Learning Commission.

QUALIFICATIONS

Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Illinois with a minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing practice. Diversity in clinical practice experience, med-surg, rehabilitation, and pediatrics preferable.

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an academic institution accredited and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) is required.

Experience teaching as a clinical preceptor in a practical nursing program preferred.

Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers, applicable software, and Internet - dependent on the needs of course delivery.

Ability to meet, successfully compete and maintain minimum health requirements, drug and/or reference checks required by college and/or clinical facilities prior to and throughout employment.

Shall meet the minimum standards of instruction established by the Administration and the Board of Trustees for any assigned instructional courses.

A valid driver's license is required.

STARTING PAY AND HOURS

Salary varies based on educational level and number of units taught. Starting rates for the current Academic Year can be viewed on SWIC's Employment page .

WORK LOCATION

Belleville and Granity City campuses with district-wide responsibilty. Driving required to reach off-campus sites, visit clinical facilities throughout the region and to attend professional functions within the state of Illinois and the St. Louis region.
