Pre‑K Teacher

The Pre‑K Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young learners. This position provides developmentally appropriate instruction that fosters curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning while preparing students for success in kindergarten.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with state early learning standards.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where all students feel safe and valued.
  • Foster children's social, emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development through play-based and hands‑on learning experiences.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and developmental levels of students.
  • Assess student growth through observation, documentation, and formal and informal assessments.
  • Maintain accurate student records and communicate student progress with families.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to support student success.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school activities.
  • Follow all district policies, procedures, and state regulations regarding early childhood education and student safety.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Early Childhood endorsement.
  • Knowledge of child development, early learning standards, and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and the school community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience teaching preschool or early childhood students.
  • Experience working with diverse learners and implementing differentiated instruction.
  • Knowledge of early childhood assessment tools and instructional technology.

  • Salary and benefits in accordance with the Board of Education and applicable collective bargaining agreement. ($47,151-$107,811)
