Position Information
Salary range: $ - $ annually. Eligible for annual incentive pay.

Primary RoleDirector, Water Quality & Environmental Compliance. Oversee IL. Responsible for full scope of water quality and environmental compliance, including laboratory management, monitoring, permitting, and environmental stewardship under Safe Drinking Water Act & Clean Water Act.
Key Accountabilities- Develop state water quality and environmental monitoring program that ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
- Develop Environmental Management Plans and update them as regulations evolve.
- Oversee staff and advise on state operations affecting water quality and environmental compliance; approve reports and coordinate Consumer Confidence Reports.
- Interface with Corporate Environmental Management on reporting and coordination of the environmental function.
- Provide technical assistance to state units on water quality and environmental issues.
- Direct laboratories and monitoring programs; advise on business development and legal/rate making proceedings.
- Develop opportunities to enhance brand through innovative environmental solutions and stewardship programs.
- Develop and manage O&M budget.
- Knowledge of federal and state environmental standards and regulations.
- Strong understanding of water system operations and filtration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective people management and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Leadership presence and ability to collaborate with senior management.
- 5+ years managing people and leading state‑wide projects.
- Experience in utility operations, environmental management of water resources and related technology or process development.
- 15+ years in water distribution systems or water utility operations preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, environmental science, engineering or equivalent field.
- Local and occasional regional travel as needed.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Water or Wastewater Distribution License preferred.
