- Position Summary
:
The Patient/Family Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting in recruitment, training, processing background checks, and maintaining electronic records of all volunteers. Assisting in ensuring all regulatory volunteer needs are met in the community, and patient & family needs of Hospice of Southern Illinois. - Pay
: $18.83 hourly. Full‑Time Non‑Exempt Position - Schedule
:
Monday‑Friday 8:30 AM‑5:00 PM with occasional evenings or weekends for events such as volunteer recognition dinners or community functions. - Location
:
Based out of the Belleville, IL Patient Services Office, and also visiting the Marion, IL Patient Services Office. This position has access to use the company vehicle for company‑related business. If the company car is not available, mileage reimbursement of $0.70 per mile for personal vehicle. - Benefits and Insurance

- Graduate of an accredited high school.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years in a healthcare setting. Knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations a plus.
- Volunteer experience with community service organizations.
- Experience serving a variety of people in a range of emotional situations.
- Functional knowledge and working experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of database applications and computer‑generated report writing. Experience with online portals to pull information to generate reports.
- Effective communication skills to build rapport with volunteers, potential volunteers, vendors, patients, employees, and families.
- Able to present information in a public setting with the use of technology, as necessary.
- Demonstrates ability to work productively with a variety of people while maintaining an enthusiastic attitude.
- Takes initiative and demonstrates exceptional attention to detail. Able to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Recognizes strengths in others to enhance volunteer experience through appropriately matching volunteer opportunities.
- Able to actively represent Volunteer Services on the Hospice Team to identify patient/family and community volunteer opportunities, assign appropriate volunteer(s), and monitor volunteer assignments.
- Respects the individuality and equality of volunteers. Willing and able to provide exceptional customer service.
- Ability to identify and solve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions. Demonstrates positive, effective problem‑solving and organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Has reliable transportation and shows proof of liability insurance.
- Willing to travel within the boundaries of Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.
Performs repetitive tasks, sedentary work: prolonged periods of sitting or standing and exerts up to 10 lbs. force occasionally. Requires physical flexibility of bending at knees and squat‑bend. Manages stress appropriately, makes decisions under pressure, handles multiple priorities, works alone and manages anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately.
