Job Summary
Hospice of Southern Illinois is a not‑for‑profit, free‑standing, community‑based hospice offering services to Southern Illinois and St. Louis Metro‑East communities since 1981. The Hospice Aide CNA will be based out of our Belleville, IL office and provide direct patient care under the direction of the Clinical Services Manager or designee and the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Compensation & Schedule- Pay: $20.28 hourly. Full‑time, non‑exempt, 40 hours per week.
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM; may include a rotational Saturday shift averaging once every seventh Saturday.
- Based at the Belleville Patient Services Office. Employees will visit patients in homes, long‑term care facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, and other settings within the Belleville area service territory (St. Clair, Monroe, Washington, & Randolph).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, reliable transportation, and will receive reimbursement of 67¢ per mile for personal vehicle use.
- Provide direct patient care under the direction of nursing staff, and adhere to state and federal regulations.
- Observe and report changes in patient status and care to the nurse and interdisciplinary team.
- Perform basic clinical skills (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) and assist in bathing, transferring, lifting, turning, positioning, and grooming patients.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic elements of body functioning related to hospice diagnosis and report changes to Nurse/Case Manager.
- Communicate clinical information verbally, to patients, family members, and hospice staff.
- Apply infection‑control procedures and reinforce patient and family infection‑control education.
- Complete 12 hours of in‑service training during each 12‑month period, and maintain all required education within the specified time.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for patients.
- Build positive relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Recognize emergencies and apply emergency procedures.
- Adhere to the hospice aide plan of care developed for each patient, timely notifying the Nurse/Case Manager of requested changes.
- Immediately report any challenges or conflicts with patients, families, or customers to the Clinical Services Manager, Patient Care Supervisor, or Nurse/Case Manager.
