Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services, critical and emergency care, and specialized pediatric emergency services. The unit, The Three South Medical/Surgical Unit, is a 19‑bed, 24‑hour unit providing medical/surgical care. The hospital is accredited as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence.

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing standards of care.

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care and medication administration.
• Participates in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with interprofessional team members, patients, and families, ensuring clear communication across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care; considers patient preferences, barriers, values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
• Maintains a constant state of alertness and works safely as this is a safety‑sensitive position.
