Hospice of Southern Illinois is a not‑for‑profit, free‑standing, community‑based hospice that has provided compassionate care to terminally ill patients and their families in Southern Illinois and the St. Louis Metro‑East communities since 1981. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their loved ones touched by a terminal illness through dedicated, patient‑centered care.
Position Summary- The Staff Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patient, family, and caregiver needs; planning and implementing the Plan of Care; and evaluating the effectiveness of the care provided. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the RN/Case Manager oversees the direction and coordination of the patient’s care throughout hospitalization.
Pay: $39.21 per hour. Full‑time, non‑exempt position. 40 hours per week (80 hours bi‑weekly).
ScheduleMonday‑Friday 8:30 AM‑5:00 PM with a rotational on‑call schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. On‑call limits apply.
Location & TravelBased out of the Belleville Patient Services Office. Visits patients within the Belleville service area covering St. Clair, Monroe, Randolph, and Washington counties. A valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and reliable transportation are required. Reimbursement of $0.70 per mile for personal vehicle use.

- Maintains a caseload of patients and oversees the direction and coordination of care.
- Provides direct patient care, including participation in the nursing process, on‑call after‑hours care, and annual skills day demonstration.
- Performs physical assessment, medication review, symptom and pain evaluation on each visit.
- Accurately and timely enters medication orders and communicates findings to the hospice physician.
- Obtains orders to manage care and coordinates medication ordering from pharmacy.
- Communicates pertinent information to the interdisciplinary team via communicator, phone, encrypted text, and IDT meetings.
- Reviews and updates the Plan of Care on each visit.
- Initiates, supervises, and updates the Hospice Aide plan of care in a timely manner and supervises visits at least every 14 days per Medicare regulation.
- Applies knowledge of disease progression, end‑of‑life pain, and symptom management.
- Considers patient, family, and caregiver stated values and goals in treatment decisions.
