Hospice Field Staff Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Hospice of Southern Illinois is a not‑for‑profit, free‑standing, community‑based hospice serving Southern Illinois and the St. Louis Metro‑East communities. We provide compassionate care to terminally ill patients and their families in a home or home‑like setting. We are currently hiring for a Hospice Field Staff LPN position based in our Belleville, IL office.

Position Summary
  • Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and organizational policy.
  • Pay: $28.72 Hourly. Full‑Time Non‑Exempt Position.
  • Schedule:

    Monday‑Friday 8:30 AM‑5:00 PM with a rotational on‑call schedule that includes evenings, weekends and holidays. On‑call duties are limited.
  • Location:

    Based at the Belleville Patient Services Office; primarily visits patients within the Belleville northern service territory (Clinton, Madison, Bond, Montgomery, Macoupin, Jersey, Calhoun).
  • Valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and reliable transportation required. Reimbursement of $0.70 per mile for driving personal vehicles.
  • Certified by the State of Illinois and compliant with the Illinois Equal Pay Act.

Position Requirements Education
  • Graduate of a State‑approved school of nursing.
  • Successful completion of Licensed Practice Nurse education.
Experience
  • One (1) year of hospice experience preferred.
Other Qualifications
  • Current Illinois LPN license.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, hospice regulations and third‑party payer expectations preferred.
  • Reliable means of transportation.
  • Physical: repetitive tasks, bathing, transferring, lifting/facilitating patient movement, occasional lift up to 100 lbs, frequent lift up to 50 lbs, constant lift up to 20 lbs, flexibility for bending at knee and squat‑bend.
  • Must manage stress, make decisions under pressure, handle multiple priorities, work independently, and respond appropriately to patient agitation.
