• Evaluate and monitor patients in an ICU setting.
• Document and provide physician‑directed care, assessing and implementing patient care plans, and delegating to other care providers as appropriate.
• Provide education and support to patient families, possibly for long‑term care needs.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report adverse reactions.
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests; take samples for lab work; interpret reports.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment; interpret and record electronic displays.
• Ensure proper placement and functioning of catheters, leads and tubing.
• Communicate patients’ conditions to family members.

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• May be exposed to hazardous chemicals or infectious diseases; manage patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.

• ACLS and BLS certification (2 years of recent acute care experience required).
• NIH certification, 2 years experience.
• Additional certifications may be required prior to assignment.
