This position involves providing nursing care for patients in a telemetry unit. The nurse will monitor patients with cardiac-related conditions. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5-6. The expectation includes working every other weekend. Weekend shifts will be scheduled across a six-week rotation. The clinician may float to any inpatient unit to meet facility needs. First-time travelers are accepted for this role. Compliance with isolation precautions and PPE usage is required.
Nursing responsibilities include the administration of medications and monitoring for dysrhythmias. Experience with pre/post cardiac surgery patients is essential. Candidates should be skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management and non-invasive airway management. Sheath removal and management of tracheostomy patients are required duties. This role may involve performing procedures such as wound care and monitoring procedural sedation. All nursing staff will be expected to complete appropriate training prior to the start date.
Additional collaborative support is available from various interdisciplinary team members. The unit handles a census of approximately 30 patients daily. There is no on-call requirement for this position. This role will enhance the clinical expertise of candidates in a dynamic care environment.
