Laborer Wastewater Division Floater

Job Scope

No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.

• Clean out clogged sewer lines utilizing a high-power hose.
• Replace broken sewer lines and install sewer lines for new connections. Dig up sewers as necessary.
• Clean out catch basins using vactor trucks.
• Repair and maintain department equipment. Change oil, lights, filters, hoses, and tires on department trucks.
• Put solvents, degreasers and deodorants in sewers as needed.
• Drive and operate all equipment necessary to perform work.
• Break up, pour and repair concrete to complete sewer line repairs.
• Perform Duties as assigned at Treatment Plant.
• Clear snow and ice from sidewalks and catch basins in the city.
• Maintain manholes including cleaning, raising sunken manholes, setting back-up valves, and installing new manholes.
• Must carry a pager and be available for emergency on-call duty.
• Adheres to proper safety techniques and utilizes safety equipment.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner which promotes good working relationships with clients, customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Certification and Experience

Required:

Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Requires previous experience in the operation of heavy equipment or in construction. Requires valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker and airbrakes endorsements. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
