Assistant Transportation Safety Manager

Commercial Transport, Inc., headquartered in Belleville, IL, operates within the St. Louis, MO commercial zone with easy access to major interstates. The company runs a central maintenance facility, a Kosher Certified food-grade tank wash, and a central dispatch operation at its corporate office. With additional terminals in multiple states, Commercial Transport operates a fleet of around 100 tractors and 150 specialized trailers.

These include food-grade pneumatic trailers certified for dry bulk products and trailers dedicated to transporting alcohol and petroleum products, operating across 48 states and Canada.

This full-time, on-site role based in Belleville, IL, involves assisting the Transportation Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining safety programs. Responsibilities include conducting safety training, ensuring compliance with occupational health and environmental safety regulations, and assisting in accident investigations and prevention initiatives. The role also includes monitoring safety practices, maintaining records, and supporting continuous improvement in safety standards within transportation operations.

• Proficiency in Safety Training and Industrial Safety practices
• Skills and experience in Accident Investigation processes
• Understanding of regulatory compliance related to transportation and logistics safety
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and lead safety improvement initiatives
• Ability to recruit and on-board Class A drivers.
• Previous experience in transportation or logistics safety management is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Transportation, or related field preferred
