OVERALL DESCRIPTION
The employee, Classroom Teacher, is responsible for instructional planning; management of behavior; delivery of instruction; and assessment of performance for all assigned students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESThe classroom teacher strives to maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service activities and selected professional growth activities.
The classroom teacher cooperates with the administration and other staff members to identify and realize the needs of his/her pupils.
The classroom teacher performs assigned out-of-classroom activities during the school day and any and all other professional duties as directed by the superintendent of schools, building principal, his/her direct supervisor, and/or other administrative designee.
The classroom teacher performs all assigned duties of this position. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
1. Professional Knowledge- The teacher demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content and the developmental needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.
- Effectively addressing appropriate curriculum standards.
- Integrating key content elements and facilitating students' use of higher level thinking skills in instruction.
- Demonstrating the ability to link present content with past and future learning experiences, other subject areas, and real world experiences and applications.
- Demonstrating accurate knowledge of the subject matter.
- Demonstrating skills relevant to the subject area taught.
- Basing instruction on goals that reflect high expectations and an understanding of the subject.
