Job Overview

With the guidance from the chief radiation oncology therapist and clinical guidance from the Radiation Oncologist, delivers accurately a planned course of Radiotherapy.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an Accredited Radiation Oncology Technology Program
  • Possess a Valid NJ State License as a Radiation Technologist
  • Registered or registry eligible by the ARRT

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable)
  • Maintain required BLS
Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions)
  • 8:00—4:00

Essential Functions
  • Checks beam directional devices for accuracy and timing devices for consistency. Checks output of a standard field size when necessary, checks ultrasound when necessary.
  • Checks treatment room to ensure high standard of technical performance and good patient care. Reports needed item to Chief Therapist.
  • Correctly identifies patient, checks treatment parameters, consent and accurately sets-up patient for treatment. Schedules patients for treatments.
  • Correctly identifies patients and positions them for Simulation. Performs tumor localization procedures and simple dosimetry procedures when required.
  • Adheres to patient rights: provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records.
  • Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions.
  • Organizes work sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate.
  • Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department, objectives, policies and procedures.
