In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32-bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and newly expanded Emergency Department.

Pay Transparency

The above reflects the anticipated annual salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing and/or Nursing Education is preferred; BSN required.
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Emergency Services.
  • Previous experience in Education or Staff Development is required.
  • An active NJ RN license or compact license with NJ endorsement is required.
  • Active BLS from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development and/or Emergency Nursing is preferred.

Essential Functions
  • The Emergency Services Nurse Educator (NPDP) is a Registered Professional Nurse who has expertise in Emergency Department clinical settings and nursing professional development/education.
  • The Emergency Services Nurse Educator (NPDP) must have an in‑depth understanding of the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Practice and the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
  • She/he is a member of the Nursing Leadership team and supports the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values, and actively participates in the shared governance process.
  • She/he is responsible and accountable for the development and application of the Standards of Care and policies and procedures of Clara Maass Medical Center‑RWJBH, in an effort to enhance the quality of care provided to patients and families.
  • The primary function is that of an educator, practitioner, consultant and change agent. Assesses data relevant to the learner's progress, and interprets the appropriate information necessary to develop group and individual learning plans.
  • The Emergency Services Nurse Educator (NPDP) is a clinical expert with abilities to foster the clinical development of the staff that she/he guides. This individual will be responsible for assessing the educational needs of the staff on an ongoing basis and to serve as a resource/coach for the nursing staff, fellow educators, management, allied professional employees and other healthcare providers.
  • In addition to the aforementioned skills, the Emergency Services Nurse Educator (NPDP) must possess clinical experience, training, and education aligned with their specialty practice area of focus.
  • The Emergency Services Nurse Educator (NPDP) will assist in the onboarding, orientation and clinical practice evaluation of the RNs and professional employees in the Emergency Department.
  • The Emergency Services Nurse Educator (NPDP) will participate in the Nurse Residency Program.
  • The Emergency Services Nurse Educator (NPDP) may assist in other departments as clinically requested by nursing leadership. Demonstrated teaching ability is required for the position.
