Position Overview

Join our team as a Hospital Manager who works daily to develop an efficient and effective hospital support team by fostering an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability. The Hospital Manager partners with the Veterinarian to provide an efficient and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high‑quality patient care and excellent customer service.

Sawtooth Animal Center is a well‑established, full‑service veterinary hospital located in Bellevue, Idaho, serving the community since 1984. The hospital offers comprehensive medical, surgical, dental, diagnostic, and boarding services in a modern 10,000‑sq‑ft facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise all hospital support departments and achieve labor goals.
  • Hire, train, and manage office and technical clinic support staff, including new hire paperwork.
  • Orient and train new clinic staff.
  • Review work performance, provide feedback, resolve personnel issues, and participate in weekly discussions with the Regional Manager.
  • Conduct timely performance appraisals.
  • Document and report accidents and file appropriate reports.
  • Write policies and procedures for all technical aspects of the hospital and present for approval.
  • Manage schedules for technical and administrative staff and coordinate the DVM.
  • Monitor workforce management for missed punches and overtime.
  • Administer daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all administrative responsibilities with Pet Vet Care Centers support team.
  • Monitor budgets, purchase equipment and supplies, and oversee facility maintenance.
  • Submit contract veterinarian invoices and local vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and obtain W9s.
  • Assist in resolving issues with pet owners as appropriate.
  • Review revenue, labor, and employee issues with Pet Vet leadership on a weekly conference call; achieve goals.
  • Perform all local accounting functions and ensure daily financial accuracy.
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure proper documentation.
  • Establish and oversee billing practices; maintain billing accuracy and charge capturing.
  • Negotiate contracts with insurance providers as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with licensure requirements and display of licenses for DVMs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, health science, or related field strongly preferred.
  • At least five years of office management experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education, certification, training and experience may be considered.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and organization‑specific software.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written.
  • Active time‑management and organizational skills.
  • Flexible schedule; able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work around sick animals and hazardous materials.
  • Physical ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and perform other relevant tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills related to hospital finances.

Pay Range: $70,000—$80,000 USD
