Facility Maintenance Specialist

The work we do matters! Join the dynamic team of public servants at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home as a Facility Maintenance Specialist. You’ll use your hands and skills daily to support U.S. Veterans in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Location:

Bellevue, NE.

Hours:

11:00a.m. – 7:30p.m., Monday to Friday. Wage: $24.836 (base $21.836 + $3.00 differential).

• Skilled patching and painting work on building interiors and exteriors.
• Proficient carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
• Install, maintain, and repair specialized electrical equipment such as refrigeration units, dishwashers, water heaters, and other appliances.
• Maintain, oil, and clean electrical motors and generators.
• Perform electrical and limited mechanical work, including repairing and replacing parts.
• Replace, repair, and rebuild locks and electronic/electrical locks.
• Perform outside tasks, including snow removal.
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or another building trade.
  • Experience in building maintenance or a mechanical trade, or in performing safety inspections, investigations, or training, may be substituted for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • HVAC, electrical, and plumbing installation and repair.
  • Drywall patching, priming, and painting.
  • Basic maintenance skills in a commercial setting.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Regular and reliable attendance required.
• On‑call rotation required.
