Case Monitor (Open)

Are you looking for a rewarding career that makes an impact in the lives of others? The State of Nebraska Probation is seeking a full‑time Case Monitor.

Employer and Location
:
Supreme Court – Agency 5, District #2 (Adult/RC) – Bellevue.

Compensation
:
Starting Salary $38,878.81 annually (Hiring Rate). Immediate growth of 2.5% after the probationary period.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and coordinate activities associated with low‑risk probation cases.
  • Assist in preparation of investigative reports and alleged probation violations.
  • Coordinate and administer offender assessments.
  • Arrange and conduct alcohol and drug testing on offenders.
  • Conduct curfew checks and monitor treatment referrals.
  • Manage payment of fines, restitution, and community service.
  • Obtain demographic, criminal, and driving histories on offenders.
  • Meet with individuals to obtain background information and assess appropriate levels of supervision.
  • Explain terms of probation to individuals and make referrals consistent with court orders.
  • Supervise assigned administrative and minimum‑risk cases in accordance with system standards.
  • Maintain appointment schedules and case notes on probationers.
  • Assist with collateral investigations and administer assessments.
  • Monitor database information for accuracy and alert staff regarding releases, extensions, violations, or terminations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
:
Associate degree in criminal justice, medical/laboratory, or related field; or one year of experience as a drug technician or related position. Consideration for candidates receiving their degree within 90 days of application.

Knowledge Requirements
:

  • Basic principles, practices, and procedures of probation services.
  • Related federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Rules, regulations, and procedures of the Judicial Branch.
  • Current probation practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Report writing, interviewing techniques, and tracking technologies.

Skill Requirements
:

  • Making home visits.
  • Ordering time, setting priorities, and working under stressful conditions.
  • Meeting recurring deadlines.
  • Interviewing clients and tracking clients’ locations.
  • Utilizing probation and protective techniques.
  • Applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Preparing activity reports and updating databases.
  • Operating computers and applicable software applications.

Ability Requirements
:

  • Learn all computer and technology applications used by the Nebraska Probation System.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Respond to stressful conditions and adhere to time constraints.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain a professional demeanor.

Physical Requirements
:
Incumbents may be required to travel. Light work includes exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally or 10 pounds frequently and requires use of arm and/or leg controls.
