Senior Student Accounts Specialist (Open to University Staff Only)

Senior Student Accounts Specialist partners with Student Accounts colleagues and campus stakeholders to manage and enhance sponsor billing operations. This position will manage military education funding programs and support corporate, international, and campus sponsor processing. The role serves students and their designated payees by providing clear financial guidance, securing authorizations, applying credits, and ensuring accurate billing and collection from sponsors. The successful candidate brings an innovative mindset and a keen eye for process improvement, leveraging technology and automation to streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, and elevate service delivery.
As a key resource for the Student Accounts and the Husker Hub team, this position supports complex billing inquiries, assists with sponsor account reconciliation, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen operational efficiency and the student experience.
• Manage sponsor billing operations, including military education funding programs.
• Provide financial guidance to students and designated payees.
• Secure authorizations, apply credits, and ensure accurate billing and collection.
• Support complex billing inquiries and sponsor account reconciliation.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives using technology and automation.
MinimumRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Two years of proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Experience working with finance/accounting or billing/invoicing. Supervisory experience in a professional office setting. Strong math skills and excellent written and oral communication. High level customer service for escalated cases. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Preferred QualificationsExperience managing college or university student finances. Experience with military education benefits. Experience with People Soft or other student management software. Data management or report writing experience. Ability to interpret financial guarantees and contracts.
Physical & Background RequirementsCommercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances. Criminal History Background Check:
Required.
$24.60 per hour minimum.
