Role Overview

The Premium Audit Specialist conducts virtual audits of workers' compensation insurance policies for Markel policyholders across the country. Through phone interviews and detailed document reviews, the Specialist analyzes payroll records, employee job duties, business operations, subcontractor exposures, and organisational structures to ensure workers' compensation classifications and premiums accurately reflect the insured’s risk. This role combines investigative analysis, customer interaction, and regulatory expertise.

Premium Audit Specialists work directly with business owners, financial contacts, and insurance professionals to understand how companies operate and to ensure compliance with workers' compensation rating rules established by organisations such as the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau (WCIRB), and Pennsylvania Compensation Rating Bureau (PCRB). For professionals who enjoy solving complex business problems, analysing data, and leveraging technology to improve outcomes, this role offers an opportunity to build expertise in risk analysis while helping shape the future of operational excellence through digital innovation, automation and AI‑enabled workflows.

Make an Impact Through Analysis, Technology, and Risk Expertise. Every worker's compensation audit tells the story of how a business operates. Whether reviewing a manufacturing company, contractor, healthcare organisation, restaurant or professional services firm, you'll gain firsthand insight into industries across the country while helping ensure premium accuracy and regulatory compliance.
