Primary Function: The Part-Time Residence and Student Life Specialist supports the daily operation of Bellevue University student housing and the delivery of student life programs that strengthen student engagement, belonging, and success. Working under the direction of the Director of Residence and Student Life, this position assists with housing processes, resident communication, student support, facility coordination, student conduct documentation, emergency response, and campus programming.

The position provides direct service during assigned daytime, evening, or weekend hours and works collaboratively with campus partners to maintain a safe, welcoming, and student-centered residential environment.

This is a part-time position scheduled for no more than 28 hours in a workweek. All time worked—including meetings, events, telephone calls, electronic communications, and emergency or on-call response—must be recorded and remain within the approved weekly schedule unless advance authorization is provided by the supervisor.

Essential Functions:

Residence Life Operations
  • Supports day-to-day housing operations, including application review, room and roommate assignments, room changes, move-in and move-out activities, resident records, key or access coordination, and routine resident communication.
  • Responds to resident questions, concerns, and service needs during assigned hours; provides clear information, follows through on open items, and refers matters requiring higher-level review to the Director or appropriate University office.
  • Conducts inspections and follow-up activities as assigned; identifies safety, security, cleanliness, or maintenance concerns and coordinates timely resolution with Campus Security, Facilities, and other partners.
  • Assists with resident conflict resolution, student welfare concerns, and conduct-related incidents; documents facts accurately, applies established procedures, and escalates concerns appropriately.
  • Supports the selection, training, scheduling, and day-to-day guidance of Resident Assistants and student employees as assigned, while referring performance or disciplinary decisions to the Director.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential housing records in accordance with University policy and applicable requirements.
Student Life and Campus Engagement
  • Assists with the planning and delivery of student programs and activities, including new student orientation, BRUIN Week, student life engagement, wellbeing and prevention programming, intramurals, and other campus events.
  • Coordinates assigned event logistics such as space, supplies, vendors, staffing, promotion, attendance tracking, setup, and cleanup.
  • Supports student organizations and student leaders by providing information, helping coordinate activities, and connecting students with appropriate University resources.
  • Assists with student employment activities for Federal Work-Study and student worker positions, including scheduling, onboarding support, and day-to-day work direction as assigned.
  • Updates approved communication platforms, event calendars, mobile applications, social media, as assigned.
Scheduled Coverage and Emergency Response
  • Provides scheduled evening or weekend coverage based on department needs and the approved weekly work schedule.
  • May participate in a limited, scheduled on-call rotation when assigned; responds promptly, follows emergency protocols, contacts appropriate campus resources, and documents actions taken.
  • Records all time worked during on-call or emergency response and coordinates schedule adjustments with the supervisor to remain within the approved weekly hour limit.
  • Is not expected to monitor or respond to University communications outside scheduled work or assigned on-call periods.
Administrative and Team Support
  • Maintains timely records, incident documentation, activity reports, attendance information, and other operational data as assigned.
