D&G is seeking a Senior Regional Affairs Subject Matter Expert to support strategic international and regional engagement efforts at the senior executive level. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive interagency and/or Combatant Command experience in international affairs, overseas operational exposure, and deep regional specialization. The selected candidate will provide executive‑level analysis, inform strategic direction, and advise senior leaders on geopolitical developments impacting U.S. national security interests.

What

You Will Do
  • Provide senior‑level subject matter expertise on regional political, economic, and security affairs.
  • Advise General Officer (GO), Flag Officer, and Senior Executive Service (SES) leadership on regional developments and strategic implications.
  • Develop executive‑ready briefing materials, policy papers, and strategic assessments.
  • Coordinate across interagency stakeholders, Combatant Commands, and Service headquarters on regional priorities and initiatives.
  • Contribute to regional strategy development, engagement planning, and alignment of policy objectives with operational considerations.
  • Assess geopolitical trends and provide actionable recommendations affecting defense posture, partnerships, and international cooperation.
  • Represent program equities in senior‑level forums, working groups, and interagency engagements.
What We Are Looking For
  • Master’s degree or higher required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of interagency and/or Combatant Command desk officer international affairs experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of overseas experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience working on European affairs OR six (6) years of experience working on Indo‑Pacific affairs.
  • Demonstrated experience advising or directly supporting senior executive leadership (GO/Flag/SES level).
  • At least one degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in International Affairs, Economics, or equivalent field.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior‑level policy, strategy, or international engagement efforts.
Clearance and Eligibility
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. person(s) (U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
